This session provides an in-depth clinical understanding of challenging disorders and some of the advanced level procedures and assessments needed for optimal outcomes.

It is applicable to nurses training for, and working in progressive and critical care units, emergency room, and surgery.

A multidisciplinary approach in planning care is reinforced including safety in medication administration, patient transport, nutritional considerations, sleep pattern disruption, and legal and ethical considerations.

Disorders are reviewed in relation to pathophysiology, advanced level and focused assessment parameters, lab abnormalities, medical treatment, nursing interventions, and outcome monitoring. Evidence-based practice bundles are integrated to reinforce best practice.

Clinical correlations are used throughout to develop critical thinking skills and reinforce learning.

Procedural review includes hands-on learning, trouble shooting, and awareness of complications which must be monitored for.

The extensive handout will provide an invaluable resource for future use. It is written in an outline format and includes various tables and bullet points to make the information easy to review and retain.

Diagrams are incorporated to provide visual correlation and retention.

What People Are Saying:

This seminar has increased my knowledge to further advance my assessment skills while caring for critically ill patients.

Excellent handout, case studies, and power point. The information presented here will be invaluable when I am floated to the Intensive Care Unit.

Brilliant session with excellent presentation of the material. Instructor has a wealth of knowledge and experience at the bedside. Loved the hands-on learning and clinical correlations to reinforced knowledge.

This was an excellent session! I learned the rationale behind all these situations and how to critically think through them to provide effective care. I feel much more confident that I can initiate ventilation, pacemakers, arterial lines, and hypothermia effectively. I loved the interactive case studies!

This was very in-depth information but explained at a level for me to understand, retain, and apply to patient care. I have a much better understanding of how to treat sepsis, ARDS, DKA and manage patients on ventilators and critical care infusions.
